Subject: Support for Workers on Strike at Canadian Hearing Services, members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 2073 (www.cupe2073.com) —

Protect Services for the Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing

Dear [MPP’s Name],

I am writing as a concerned constituent and a supporter of the dedicated workers at Canadian Hearing Services, and members of Canadian Union of Public Employees local 2073, who are currently on strike across Ontario. These workers provide vital services and support to the Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing communities — services that are essential and irreplaceable.

It is unacceptable that the very people who ensure accessibility, communication, and inclusion for Deaf, Deafblind and Hard of Hearing Ontarians are being forced to take job action simply to access fair bargaining, secure fair wages and improve job security. The value of their work cannot be overstated — and yet, it continues to be undervalued.

This strike does not only affect the workers. It disrupts the lives of the individuals and families who rely on sign language interpreting services, Deafblind intervenors, mental health services psychotherapist mental health services, employment assistance, audiology services, and more.

I urge you to stand with these workers and use your position to advocate for a fair resolution. CUPE 2073 members need your help to encourage CHS’s senior management and Board of Directors to return to the bargaining table and commit to a just and equitable contract. You can:

(1) Reach CHS’s CEO directly at 416-994-6552 or jdumanian@hotmail.com or jdumanian@chs.ca, and

(2) Champion this cause at Queen’s Park.

Our communities deserve to be supported by organizations that value their workers. Please stand up for fairness, accessibility, and respect.

Sincerely,[Your Full Name]
